Do you need a domain name?

Published by amybrowne at 12:01 am under General Edit This

If you are in business, you need a domain name that is easy to remember, one that stays on the minds of your customer as well as their fingertips so that your web site is easily found.  You want your customers to remember your domain name as you remember the more memorable domain names you have been to.

The key to a memorable domain name is simply; keep it basic so that it is easy for your customers to remember. You want customers to automatically type in your domain name, and not have to resort to a search engine where the potential to loose these customers is greatly increased.  Yes, you pay more for those domain names but it will be cost effective for you to have a memorable name.

You need that domain name to reflect your business, and the domain name should be the name of your business. For any business, you might imagine there are millions of listings on the Internet and some have the same name as your business.

The best option is to purchase the exact name of your business so it is memorable but also you do not lose any customers or clients.  If it is a business domain, adding a first name such as JHenderson.com allows the customer to assume that it is a personal site if they need to search for it, but adding the entire business name such as HendersonInsurance.com tells your customers exactly what type of business you to and it is easy to remember.

Customers assume a dot com is business, while a dot org is an organization, so do not try to save money by purchasing another type of domain, You want a dot com rather then the other types of domain names because a dot com says that your site is a business. Do not settle for less, because purchasing a domain name that is similar to your business name will cost your customers and it will eventually hurt your bottom line.
